Fishing with my daughter and son in law

My daughter, Lindsey and her husband Eric came to visit this weekend and wanted to go fishing.Lindsey and I used to fish quite often in our pond before she flew the nest. Back then we were pretty competitive about everything including who caught the most and biggest. Well even though it's been several years she is still game but the focus is on Eric. It was fun to see them "josh" each other after each catch. We got up early and got on the water at daybreak. There is nothing like running down a lake as the sun starts to peek above the horizon. My wife Kim and I found a few crappie up a creek on an old top a couple of days earlier so we anchored both ends of the boat to hold us in place. Eric is not a very experienced angler and Lindsey has always been like her mother preferring a "floater" with live bait to casting artificials. "Too much like work" they say. I put Lindsey in the front and Eric on the back seat while I baited hooks from the middle. Lindsey started catching fish immediately with Eric not quite in the right spot and trying to get the hang of letting the crappie take to cork completely under. It didn't take long though and he started to get the hang of it. At one point Lindsey let out a holler when a 4 lb Largemouth bass ate her minnow. After she landed the bass with a good net job from her "old man" she let Eric take the front to show him it didn't matter where she sat. But it was not long before Eric let out a holler and landed about a 4 lb spotted bass. All in all we ended up with 14 keeper crappie and 3 bass which I filleted for their freezer. A good time was had by all, until next time Mark

Finally picked up!!!

After being "out there" for over a month Goggle finally picked up my website. It can be frustrating having to depend on a program to search and find my website. The program also determines viability, what a joke. Anyway,You can now search www.GooseHollowTackle.com on Google and pull up the website. Unfortunately Yahoo, Bing, nor MSN have picked up GooseHollowTackle.com yet. It should just be a matter of time.    I have been testing a new crankbait which I think will be great for trolling crappie. The lure is made by JLVLures and comes in some great looking colors. The crankbait is called the bladed shad. What is so unique about this lure is it has a spinner blade connected to the underside of the bill with a ball-bearing swivel. This gives the bait an added flash which should attract crappie as well as other gamefish. I am very excited about this line of baits and will have more reports on their use in the future. These baits can be found at www.GooseHollowTackle.com

Hot deal and Hot temps

Whew it's hot! These temperatures are unreal! I am not a big fan of "global warming" but I must admit the past couple of summers have been the hottest I can remember. Of course it could be as I get older my body just does not take the heat as well. When my wife and I discuss how hot it is, usually after forbidding me to go outside and work on something, she will remind me her dad was born in July  1930 and the record high in the MS Delta was set that day. Can you imagine living back then with no air conditioning much less having a baby. If you live in the MS Delta pay attention when the weatherman tells when the records were set and you will find a lot are in the early thirties.  As bad as I hate to say, it is too hot to fish. With water temps in the 90's fish are only feeding at night or very early in the morning. As soon as the sun hits the water the bite stops. My neighbor has been catching a few crappie early on jigs but the bite is so short it is hardly worth going.      I have a couple of hot deals at GooseHollowTackle.com to go with these temperatures. GoosehollowTackle.com has a Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 Bowmount Trollingmotor with foot control and 50Lbs thrust for $566.50 and a Lowrance Elite 5X DSI Downscan Imaging with a 5 inch color LCD screen and transducer for $549.00. These are just two of the great deals found on GooseHollowTackle.com.  Mark

Well folks, I 'm back for my second post promoting Goosehollowtackle .com. Please bear with me as my writing will include the name Goosehollowtackle.com many times in my post. From what I understand it can take a week to a couple of months for the search engines [yahoo, google, bing] to pick up new websites. Putting the name of your site or products for sale on your site in a blog or other posts allows the search engines to pick up your site as people search and hit the products you have posted. Anyway my neighbor and I had the chance to fish last week so we headed to Watts Bar Dam to try the stripers. Getting on the water just after daylight we found the stripers busting shad in the tailwaters. We cast 1 ounce Spro jigs with a 4 inch trailer. The trick for us was to sit just outside the fast water and make long cast letting the jigs drift with the current. You really have to pay attention to keep from hanging up and we lost several jigs as they bumped along the bottom. On my third cast I caught a 20+ pound striper, my largest yet. We ended up catching eight with two over twenty! I must admit since recently moving to east TN the fishing has been even better than I had hoped!
I would like to let all the crappie fishermen know Goosehollowtackle.com has StrikeKing series 5 pro model crankbaits in blue gizzard shad for $4.25 and StrikeKing slabhammer crappie crankbaits from $3.47. For the bassfishermen Goosehollowtackle.com has 1/4 oz. white Buzzkill buzzbaits by Culprit for $1.99 and Berkley Gulp 7" super worm in blue fleck for $5.95 a package. These are only a couple of great values on Goosehollowtackle.com.  Until next time, search us often. Mark

I am starting this blog to announce and promote my new fishing website Goosehollowtackle.com. Goosehollowtackle will cater to any fishermen, no matter the type of fish or technique. Goosehollowtackle currently has thousands of items and wil...l be updated weekly with the very latest products and prices. Being new, Goosehollowtackle will continue tweeking the site to provide the best search categories for the customer's ease in finding products. I must say as a crappie fisherman I have a category related to crappie fishing. This category will be an ongoing project as I add items used to catch the best tasting fish swimming. The "crappie stuff" category on Goosehollowtackle.com only has a page search feature but if you're like me you enjoy "flipping pages" looking at "stuff" to fish for crappie. The categories on the Goosehollowtackle.com website are set up for any fresh or saltwater fishermen to find the products he is searching for whether comparing prices or researching a new product.

Another unique feature of Goosehollowtackle.com is there is a link for coupons, stocks ,weather, freeslots as well as others which should be of interest to all. As this is my first blog, please bear with me as I get my feet wet. I am planning on reporting on my fishing trips and the products I use from Goosehollowtackle.com as a regular part of this blog. I hope you will visit Goosehollowtackle.com soon. Mark
